Altar Call Ministry — Meet with God, face to face.

"And the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend."

Exodus 33:11

Our Vision

To know Him personally.

Not at a distance. Not second-hand. Our vision is for every member of the body of Christ to know God the way Moses knew Him: face to face, as a friend.

"God has given us His Spirit, that we may know the things freely given to us by God."1 Corinthians 2:11–12 AMP

Our Mission

A personal relationship.

To teach individuals to have a personal relationship with their Lord and Saviour, rooted and grounded in love and filled with all the fullness of God.

"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith… filled up throughout your being to all the fullness of God."Ephesians 3:17–19 AMP

What We Do

Three things, done deeply.

Altar Call gathers in small home cell groups · intimate fellowship · upper rooms · where the Spirit is first and there is no red tape.

01

Raise an altar

Learning to set up an environment, in your home and in your heart, where you encounter the Lord by His grace.

In plain words: making room for God where you actually live, so that meeting Him is not something that only happens in a church building. Isaiah 6:6–8
02

The fear of the Lord

Growing in understanding and insight into the fear of the Lord, the place where God reveals His covenant and its deep, inner meaning.

In plain words: not being frightened of God, but holding Him in the awe He is due. It is the posture He trusts with the things closest to His heart. Psalm 25:14
03

Pray without ceasing

Living a life of perpetual prayer according to the wisdom of Jesus: rejoicing always, thankful in every situation, never quenching the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:16–19

Statement of Faith

What we believe

SCROLL THE CARDS ↓

01 / 05

One God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, who died for our sins, rose bodily on the third day and ascended to heaven.

02 / 05

The Holy Spirit indwells all believers, empowering them for godly living and ministry.

The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God, sufficient for all matters of faith and life.

03 / 05

Salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

The Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, proclaim the gospel and disciple believers.

04 / 05

The practice of prayer, worship and reverent living, growing in the fear of the Lord.

Obedience to God's Word: holiness, love and service as evidence of a transformed life.

05 / 05

Every believer is called to God's mission through discipleship, service and sharing the good news.

The personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the life everlasting.

Who It's For

Believed for years,
but never met Him?

Many of us grew up around faith, with the church, the songs and the stories, yet never had a personal encounter with the living God. Altar Call exists for you. There is a seat in the tent with your name on it.

What a night looks like

So what actually happens?

Someone’s living room. A handful of people. The kettle on.

There is no running order. We don’t hand you a programme, because we would rather follow the Spirit than a timetable, and no two evenings are quite the same. Some nights are mostly worship. Some nights one person needs praying for, and that becomes the whole evening.

What is always true is this. It lasts about two hours. We eat together. And nobody will make you speak. You can sit with a cup of tea and say nothing at all, and no one will think anything of it. Plenty of people do exactly that the first time.

About two hoursHome by ten.

No pressure to speakListening is a fine start.

Where do I go?

Our groups meet in homes across London, and they move and multiply as they grow. So rather than send you to an address, we would rather find you the one nearest you. Tell us roughly where you are, and we will do the rest.

The Ministers

Buchard & Ruth

Buchard didn't meet God in a church building. He met Him in his own apartment, in an encounter with the Lord that turned a believer into a servant. The years since have been an apprenticeship in God's house: youth pastor at Devine Healing Church, serving at Remnant Christian Network and Grace International Christian Centre, and ministering at Jubalee Christian Church London. Altar Call is the fruit of all of it: the conviction that what happened in that apartment can happen in yours.

Ruth is a leader with a passion for seeing women walk in the same testimony of marriage God wrote for her. She carries that calling through Ladies in Waiting, the ministry she leads, and through every season of Altar Call, where she and Buchard have served hand in hand, learning together in God's house.

Before you ask

The questions people are too polite to ask

So here they are, asked out loud, and answered straight.

No. Nobody will put you on the spot, and nobody will go round the room. If you want to pray, pray. If you would rather sit and listen, sit and listen. Both are welcome, and neither will be commented on.

Yes. Come with your questions, come with your doubts, come because a friend asked you. You will not be argued at. Most of us arrived with more questions than answers, and some of us still have them.

Whatever you would wear to a friend’s house. It is somebody’s living room, not a cathedral. Come as you are, in every sense.

Almost everybody arrives that way. The groups are deliberately small, which sounds more frightening and is in fact far easier. In a room of eight you are known by the end of the evening. Tell us you are coming and one of us will look out for you.

No. There is no collection, no envelope, no moment where a bowl comes round. Giving is on this website for anyone who chooses to look for it, and that is the only place you will ever be asked.

No. Come once and see. Come when you can. Nobody is keeping a register, and you will not get a message asking where you were.

Altar Call is a registered charity and a Christian ministry that meets in homes rather than a building. If you already have a church, this is not asking you to leave it. What we believe is set out plainly further up this page, so you can read it before you decide.
